We’ve reached the limit of the number of animals we can care for with our current financial and staffing resources. Will you be an angel and help us care for more than 500 kittens, puppies and mature cats and dogs?

The Humane Society of Indianapolis, an Indianapolis-based, independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that receives no government funding, is supported solely by contributions, grants, bequests, investments, and adoption and service fees from people like you. Any donation, regardless of size, demonstrates a deep personal commitment to help care for the 6,000+ animals brought to our door each year. The we share many values, the Humane Society of Indianapolis is independent from the Humane Society of the United States and receives no funding nor is managed by HSUS.

Individuals, families, foundations and corporations form the valuable network that helps us care for lost, abandoned and homeless pets and place them in loving homes. We rely on the generosity of those who support our mission, to provide shelter and comfort to animals in need on the path to loving lifetime homes.

Medical Sponsorship

Many animals arrive at our shelter with medical conditions, such as heartworm in dogs, which are beyond the scope of our regular medical care. Medical treatment for conditions such as heartworm can be a tremendous obstacle to adoption, as the retail cost of treatment for an adopter can be $500 - 900. With our in-house medical team, we can treat heartworm before the dog is available for adoption, provide foster care during recovery, and educate potential adopters about lifetime prevention of the disease. Your medical sponsorship funds lifesaving treatment for animals in need.

Opportunities for other treatments are available on a case by case basis. On occasion, we receive multiple sponsorships intended for a specific animal. In that event, we apply the additional sponsorship to another animal in need of treatment.

If you'd like to be an angel and help save a life, please see our Adoptable Dogs or Adoptable Cats pages - animals in need of sponsorship are not available for adoption, but will have special photos and instructions on how you can help!
