Shelter Wish List

Before you make a trip to the store, check our Wish List (at the bottom of this page) for some simple things you can pick up for our animals. Or order conveniently from Amazon.com.

You can also sponsor an item and the shelter can send a special card noting the gift in a loved one's honor or memory. Below is a message from all of the puppies, kittens, dogs and cats of the Humane Society of Indianapolis with items they've requested:

To keep our areas clean, we need:

• Bleach - unscented (need lots!)
• Tall kitchen garbage bags
• Large black garbage bags
• Paper towels
• Lint rollers

To keep us comfortable, we need:

• New carpet squares (remnants cut to 2' x 2')
• Old bath towels (no holes)
• Clean cardboard boxes (copy paper size is ideal)
• Cat and dog beds and Cat Towers (click here to donate Kuranda beds and Cat Towers at a substantial discount!)

For our playtime, we need:

• Kongs (all sizes) - prefer black heavy-duty Kongs
• Cat toys (cheap economy packs)
• Squeeze Cheese (cheese in a can) - need LOTS!
• Jars of Peanut Butter
• Cat nip
• Small cat scratching posts
• Carpet cat towers and cat condos - all sizes

For our foster care program, we need:

• Cans of Tuna (special treat for sick cats)
• Canned puppy and kitten food
• New litter boxes and poop scoopers
• Small bags of clay cat litter
• Small bags of dry, high quality cat and kitten food

To keep us healthy, we need:

• Hand sanitizer
• Thermometer covers (available at drug stores)
• Disposable white latex gloves (with or without powder)
• Clear plastic gloves (restaurant style - available at Sam’s Club for example)
• Disposable surgical gowns
• 4" x 4" gauze squares: non-sterile (we use a lot of these)
• Wood tongue depressors
• medical scrubs for our staff (used is fine)

For our public donation closet (to assist pet owners in need), we need:

• Dry dog food & cat food, partially used bags are fine
• Cat litter
• Leashes
• Collars
• Pet food bowls
• Cat & dog treats

Other items that would be helpful:

• Cans of soda or pre-packaged treats (for our humans who work tirelessly to care for our animals)
• Permanent markers (blue and black, fat tip)
• White copy paper (we need a lot!)
• Reams of light blue, light yellow and light green paper
• Self-laminating sheets (all sizes)
• Regular laminating sheets
• Toilet paper
