2008 Essay Contest

One goal of the Humane Society of Indianapolis is to reach out and create connections with children and families in the greater Indianapolis area. In that spirit, HSI held it;s fourth annual essay contest and encouraged elementary and middle school students to participate. The theme of the 2008 Essay Contest was "Love Awaits at the Humane Society of Indianapolis" This theme serves as a reminder that wonderful pets wait everyday to be adopted at local shelters.

We received over 500 essays and would like to thank the following schools for participating in the 2008 Essay Contest:

We would also like to thank the Essay Contest Committee. This committee read all of the essays and narrowed them down to our finalists. Thank you committee!

There will be one winner chosen from the elementary school level and one winner chosen from the middle school level.

The winners will receive the following:

  • Picture and essay published on www.indyhumane.org and distributed to local media
  • Picture taken with an adoptable animal from the shelter
  • Billboard with picture and school name in neighborhood of school
  • Mini billboard
  • Humane Society of Indianapolis staff members will present award to winning students at a multi-student gathering
  • Certificate
